GRANT WRITING WORKSHOP

The University of Puerto Rico – Agricultural Experiment Station and the Southern Association of Agricultural Experiment Station Directors (SAAESD) are pleased to host a one-day workshop on grant writing. The Grantsmanship Workshop focuses on how to navigate the grant writing process. Participants will be walked through the process of developing a successful grant submission, how to participate in the review process, proposal organization, the development of integrated team proposals and will also highlight common errors and what should be avoided. The goal of the workshop is that researchers, extension specialists, educators and administrators gain a complete understanding of the grant writing process.

The workshop will be held August 28, 2006 at the Normandie Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The registration fee is $250.00 per participant.

The workshop will be offered by Dr. Thomas A. Fretz, NERA Executive Director, and Dr. H. Michael Harrington, WAAESD Executive Director.

The workshop will be focused on:

  • Introduction to grantsmanship

  • Principles of grant writing and keys to successful proposals

  • Writing winning grants

  • Organizing integrated or team proposals

  • Insights from team grant writing

  • Ethics of grants writing
